Tue 22nd Apr, 2025

In Seevetal, a 64-year-old man became the victim of an armed robbery on April 22, 2025, at approximately 9:45 AM outside a Volksbank branch. The assailants, two young men, forcefully seized his shoulder bag, which contained several thousand euros in cash, before fleeing on foot towards the nearby highway.

Fortunately, the victim did not sustain serious injuries during the incident. A witness to the robbery managed to apprehend one of the suspects, who appeared to be a minor, after a brief chase. This individual was taken into custody but was found to be empty-handed at the time of arrest.

In response to the ongoing threat, local law enforcement mobilized a significant number of resources, including multiple patrol vehicles, two helicopters, tracking dogs, and a drone, to locate the second suspect. The search was focused on the area south of Ohlendorfer Straße and west of the A7 highway.

Tracking dogs picked up a scent trail that led investigators from discarded clothing to the A7. Authorities successfully apprehended the second suspect, approximately 30 years old, at around 3 PM. He was found in possession of the stolen cash.

Both suspects now face criminal charges for robbery, and investigations into their identities are currently underway. This incident highlights the swift action of law enforcement and the importance of community vigilance in response to criminal activities.
