In Schwerin and Parchim, an alarming series of vehicle break-ins has led to the theft of tools valued at over EUR33,000. Authorities are currently investigating 15 distinct incidents of tool theft within the region.

The Criminal Police in Schwerin reported that eleven vehicles were forcibly entered in the city, with high-quality tools stolen in nine of these cases. Additionally, four similar thefts have been recorded in Parchim.

As part of the investigation, police have collected evidence from the crime scenes and are exploring potential links to previous thefts. The inquiry into these serious thefts continues, and efforts are underway to locate the stolen tools.

Authorities are urging witnesses to come forward with any information that may assist in the investigation. They advise individuals to report such thefts immediately and maintain a detailed inventory of stolen tools, including their serial numbers, as this greatly aids in the recovery of stolen property.

To deter future incidents, experts recommend marking tools and machinery with identifiable markings, such as engravings or permanent ink, to complicate their resale. Additionally, vehicle owners are encouraged to enhance security measures by installing mechanical and electronic locks, such as alarm systems and deadbolt locks. Further protection can be achieved by reinforcing windows with metal grilles.
