Sonic Visions with THE WATS
Curated by Fried Dähn and Thomas Maos, this event is part of the Sonic Visions series, featuring an engaging performance that intertwines sound, music, and visuals. This edition presents THE WATS, a narrative where three travelers in the desolate, apocalyptic landscapes of New Zealand encounter a mysterious woman and her child. The encounter escalates into a dark drama exploring themes of violence, isolation, and emancipation. The concept, composition, direction, and video content are created by Stepha Schweiger, with sound design by Florian Tippe and stage background/video by PFA-STUDIOS, along with electronic arrangements by Pyrolator. The cast includes Anke Retzlaff (Woman, Singer, also as Avatar), Ziv Frenkel (Child Else, Dancer, also as Avatar), Deborah Rawlings (Narrator, Performer, also as Avatar), Raphael Dwinger (Jo, Baritone), and Adam Goodwin (Hin, Double Bass). The piece is musically performed by the ensemble LUX:NM featuring Silke Lange (Accordionist), Ruth Velten (Saxophonist), Florian Juncker (Trombonist), and Zoé Cartier (Cellist).
