Ryanair Plans Ticket Price Increases Amid Operational Adjustments

Tue 25th Feb, 2025

Ryanair, the low-cost airline, is set to implement ticket price increases this year, according to the company's CEO, Michael O'Leary, during a press conference held in Warsaw. The anticipated price hikes are projected to be in the range of four to six percent. This adjustment follows a significant ten percent reduction in ticket prices last year, although the new prices will still remain lower compared to those in 2023.

O'Leary expressed optimism regarding Boeing's ability to resolve its delivery backlog by mid-2026, which has impacted Ryanair's operations. In late January, the airline had to adjust its passenger forecasts for the upcoming fiscal year, which concludes in March 2026, due to delays from the aircraft manufacturer. For the period between April 2025 and March 2026, Ryanair is now estimating a total of 206 million passengers.

In the German market, passenger numbers are expected to decline this year. Ryanair announced plans to significantly reduce its operations at German airports, with major changes set to take effect this summer. The airline will cease flights from Dortmund, Dresden, and Leipzig, while also scaling back services from Hamburg and Berlin, resulting in the elimination of 22 routes.

Additionally, O'Leary indicated that in the event of a ceasefire in Ukraine, Ryanair would resume flights to and from the country within six weeks. The airline intends to offer six to eight routes connecting Poland and Ukraine once operations recommence.
