The recovery operation for the luxurious yacht 'Bayesian,' which sank off the coast of Sicily, has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions. The salvage operation, initially scheduled to commence this Sunday, is now set to begin next Sunday, a week later than originally planned.

The yacht, which weighed nearly 500 tons, tragically sank in August of last year, resulting in the loss of seven lives. Among the deceased were Mike Lynch, a British software billionaire, and his 18-year-old daughter. The incident has raised numerous questions and speculations regarding the circumstances leading to the sinking.

Authorities hope that the recovery of the wreck will provide insights into the causes of the disaster. Investigations are ongoing against the New Zealand captain and two other crew members, who are accused of ignoring severe weather warnings and prioritizing their own safety during the incident. Additionally, there are inquiries into whether the Italian manufacturer of the yacht bears any responsibility for the sinking of the 17-year-old vessel.

The 'Bayesian,' measuring 56 meters in length, was among the largest sailing yachts globally, with a wreck weight of 473 tons. It was reported that the 75-meter mast would remain submerged on the seabed following the recovery. Once salvaged, the yacht is planned to be transported to the port of Termini Imerese, near Palermo, where the local prosecutor's office is located. The costs associated with the recovery will be covered by the owner's company, which is now managed by Lynch's widow.

The salvage operation is projected to last until mid-May, ensuring a thorough and careful approach to the recovery process.
