Residents of Schleswig-Holstein are bracing for potential disruptions as public sector workers prepare for a series of warning strikes following unsuccessful wage negotiations. The second round of talks involving over 2.5 million employees of the federal government and municipalities concluded without any progress, as no proposals were put forth by the employers.
The dbb trade union in Schleswig-Holstein has expressed that previous actions have not prompted a change in stance from the employers, indicating that more decisive measures are necessary. The union announced that significant warning strikes and protests are expected in the coming weeks.
The culmination of these actions is scheduled for March 6, when a statewide day of action will take place. This will involve warning strikes across various municipal and federal offices, as well as a central rally in Kiel. In addition, localized warning strikes are planned, including one at the Federal Motor Transport Authority in Flensburg on March 4.
Trade unions Verdi and dbb are engaged in negotiations concerning salary increases and working hours for employees across numerous sectors, including administration, childcare, education, public transportation, waste management, and airport services. The workforce also encompasses firefighters and federal police officers.
The unions are advocating for a salary increase of eight percent, or a minimum of 350 euros per month. However, employers have yet to present any offers in the previous two rounds of negotiations.
