Sylt, Schleswig-Holstein - Originally launched as a piano bar in 1980, the nightclub 'Rotes Kliff' in the upscale area of Kampen has evolved into one of Germany's most sought-after nightlife destinations. The success of this celebrated venue can be largely attributed to renowned restaurateur and 'Kliff' veteran Peter Kliem, who played a pivotal role in establishing 'Rotes Kliff' as the premier celebrity hotspot on the island.

Now, after more than four decades of vibrant nightlife, Kliem has decided to step back from his role, passing the iconic venue into younger hands. This transition was first reported by the 'Sylter Rundschau'. Kliem's departure marks the end of an era at the nightclub, which has become synonymous with glamour and extravagance.

Taking over the management of 'Rotes Kliff' are Sepp Brückmann, 32, and his partner Rabea Palenschat, 27. Their fresh perspective is anticipated to bring new energy to the beloved establishment.

Kliem's journey began in 1979 when he arrived on the North Sea island as a temporary worker. By Easter 1982, he was invited to perform as a DJ at 'Rotes Kliff', initially operating under the supervision of the club's founder, Wolfgang Strümpell. In the early 1990s, Kliem partnered with Beate Stoltenberg to acquire the club, transforming it into a key nightlife destination on Sylt.

Over the years, 'Rotes Kliff' has attracted an array of wealthy clientele, including the children of affluent families and an impressive roster of celebrities. Among its notable guests has been HP Baxxter, the frontman of the techno band Scooter, who has often been described as a fixture at the club. He fondly recalls his experiences at 'Rotes Kliff', highlighting Kliem's dedication and the vibrant atmosphere created at various summer events.

Other famous personalities who have frequented the venue include actor Kostja Ullmann, television presenter Janin Ullmann, singer Sasha, and prominent businessmen such as Dr. Michael Otto, an honorary citizen of Hamburg.

Although Kliem is stepping away from the nightclub scene, he will remain active in the local entertainment industry, continuing to perform as a DJ at select events, including recent appearances at the luxurious 'Heritage' in Hamburg's 'Le Méridien' hotel.

Kliem has expressed that while he is leaving the nightlife scene, he will continue to be a presence on the island, opting to perform during daytime events at various venues. Reflecting on his time at 'Rotes Kliff', he is proud to have contributed to the joy and memorable experiences of patrons over the years.
