In the weeks leading up to Easter, a unique post office located in Ostereistedt, Lower Saxony, has become a hub of excitement for children. For the past 43 years, the Osterpostamt, or Easter Post Office, has been receiving letters from children eager to communicate with the Easter Bunny. This year, between March 10 and April 15, the team has processed an astounding 75,000 letters, according to reports from Deutsche Post.

The Easter Bunny, known as Hanni Hase, and his dedicated team are busy during this period, with the Easter post office serving as a trusted confidant for many children. Doris Kröger, the head of the 14-member team, emphasized the significance of this role, noting the heartfelt nature of the letters received. Notably, some children expressed their desire for Hanni Hase to remember those less fortunate in other parts of the world.

Among the letters, approximately 2,300 originated from overseas, spanning 35 different countries. The Easter post team primarily responds to these international letters in English, although many letters, including those from abroad, are written in German. Interestingly, entire classes often participate, using this opportunity as a practical exercise in their German language studies.

Unfortunately, this year was marred by an incident where the post office experienced a break-in at the end of March. Thieves stole a box of sweets valued at over 1,000 euros. The Osterpostamt is located within the community center of Ostereistedt, and local authorities have yet to identify any suspects. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
