A chilling narrative unfolds in Berlin as a renowned architect and a local bartender are discovered murdered under suspicious circumstances, raising questions about motives and connections.
The story begins with the tragic shooting of architect Tobias Kaiser, whose lifeless body is found following a company party. Colleagues suspect that underlying tensions within the prestigious architectural firm may have played a role in his demise. The investigation deepens when another body is located, this time belonging to Tino Feldkamp, the bartender who was shot dead as he was closing his bar.
Initial inquiries reveal that both men were embroiled in complicated personal and professional lives. Kaiser was not only a prominent figure in the architectural world but also faced criticism from employees. His colleague, Leyla Günes, who had shown interest in becoming a partner in the firm, momentarily withdrew her candidacy. This shift in dynamics, especially following a major project win by the firm, casts a shadow of suspicion over her motivations.
As the plot thickens, the investigation team, led by detectives Linett Wachow, Otto Garber, and Nils Makowski, discovers that the second victim, Feldkamp, had his share of personal troubles. His tumultuous relationship with his wife, who was contemplating divorce, adds another layer to the case. The detectives must navigate through a web of relationships and motives to uncover the truth.
Despite initial appearances suggesting the murders may not be connected, further examination reveals links between the two cases. Tensions around Kaiser were exacerbated by a confrontation with the father of a young intern at his firm, who felt his daughter was overworked and exploited. This father had reportedly obtained a firearm, raising concerns about his potential involvement.
Meanwhile, Günes, now positioned as a potential beneficiary of Kaiser's death, becomes a person of interest. Her ambitions within the firm could provide her with a motive to eliminate Kaiser.
Amidst these investigations, the show retains its trademark humor and interpersonal dynamics, showcasing the detectives' interactions. The ongoing flirtation between Garber and forensic expert Dr. Gabriele Simkeit continues to add a light-hearted touch, while young detective Makowski finds himself drawn more to witness Doreen Schön than to the case itself.
The episode titled "Almost Perfect Murders" is set to air on March 15, 2025, at 8:15 PM on ZDF, with earlier access available on the ZDF Mediathek.
