Munich S-Bahn Services Remain Disrupted Following Severe Storms

Continued disruptions plague Munich's S-Bahn services in the aftermath of heavy storms. Individual sections of tracks remain closed, as confirmed by the S-Bahn operator on Friday. Commuters are advised to anticipate delays throughout the main line and the entire S-Bahn network.

As of the 3:00 PM update, S-Bahn services are operating as follows:

• S1 Munich East - Freising - Munich Airport: S-Bahn services are back to their regular route with all planned stops. Substitute taxi services between Moosach and Freising will continue until approximately 4:00 PM.
• S2 Dachau - Altomünster: This section of track remains closed. Taxi substitute services are available. The hourly service between Munich East and Altomünster will be suspended until this afternoon.
• S2 Markt Schwaben - Erding: This section of track remains closed. Taxi substitute services are available.
• S6 Gauting - Tutzing: This section of track remains closed. Taxi substitute services are available.
• S20 Pasing - Höllriegelskreuth: Line is entirely suspended, including the afternoon schedule.

Other lines are operating along their regular routes, although some minor delays are expected. The Deutsche Bahn has indicated that taxis deployed for rail replacement services have been appropriately marked. Due to limited availability, extended waiting times are anticipated on all routes. The main line in Munich is also experiencing disruptions, resulting in delays. Short-term cancellations and service alterations are also possible.

During the overnight hours, the severe weather conditions prompted numerous interventions by federal police. Along the Landshut - Freising rail route, around 11:15 PM, a bike shelter from a private property near Moosburg station was blown onto the tracks. Federal police officers removed the structure from the track area and secured it to prevent further displacement.

Similar weather-related incidents occurred between Dachau and Altomünster. Shortly past midnight, just beyond the S-Bahn stop Erdweg, the fire department had to rescue 15 individuals from a train stranded due to a fallen tree. This incident resulted in additional damages to the infrastructure and the S-Bahn, totaling around EUR10,000. Approximately an hour later, the S2 line experienced renewed disruptions. A power outage caused an S-Bahn to halt on the tracks between Markt Indersdorf and Arnbach. Six passengers were safely evacuated by the fire department.

Within the city limits of Munich, the fire department remained active. From 11:00 PM onwards, they responded to 25 storm-related incidents, primarily involving fallen or broken branches that needed removal. A willow tree with an 80-centimeter diameter trunk fell onto Gralstraße, damaging several vehicles. Chainsaws and a crane were necessary to clear the roadway. The extent of the damage remains uncertain, according to the fire department's statement.
