Middle East Conflict: Radical Groups in Gaza Threaten Protesters with Consequences

Thu 27th Mar, 2025

In the Gaza Strip, radical Palestinian factions have issued threats against demonstrators who have protested against Hamas, warning of repercussions for those they accuse of collaborating with Israel. This announcement came from the coalition known as the 'Resistance Factions,' which includes Hamas among its ranks. The groups criticized the leaders of this 'suspect movement,' which refers to the pro-peace demonstrators standing against Hamas. They accused these protesters of blaming the resistance against Israel for the dire situation while ignoring the ongoing actions of what they termed the 'Zionist extermination machine.'

Protests against Hamas have been relatively rare in the Gaza Strip, where the organization is known for its severe crackdowns on internal dissent. The radical factions stated, 'These suspected individuals bear the same responsibility for the bloodshed of our people as the occupiers and will be treated accordingly.'

On Thursday, hundreds once again took to the streets in Gaza to voice their dissatisfaction with the ongoing war and the actions of Hamas. Reports from local residents and Palestinian sources indicate that demonstrators called for the withdrawal of the militant group. Witnesses described various gatherings occurring across several locations in the conflict-affected coastal territory.

A resident of Gaza shared his thoughts via a messaging app, stating, 'We are not against the resistance; we are against the war. Enough of wars; we are exhausted.' He emphasized that people should not be labeled as collaborators simply for advocating an end to the conflicts, highlighting a desire for a life free from bombardments and hunger.

During one of the protests in Beit Lahia, a Palestinian was seen waving a white flag, symbolizing a call for peace and an end to hostilities.
