Microsoft Launches Windows 365 Link Cloud PCs in Germany

Mon 7th Apr, 2025

Microsoft has officially introduced its dedicated cloud PC, the Windows 365 Link, to the German market. This compact device operates as a thin client, relying entirely on cloud infrastructure for its operating system and applications. Priced at EUR419, the Windows 365 Link is designed primarily for businesses seeking cost-effective and stationary computing solutions.

The launch of the Windows 365 Link follows its initial announcement at Microsoft's Ignite event last fall, where the company promised to roll it out in selected markets by April 2025. Alongside Germany, other countries included in this rollout are Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Bechtle AG has been named as the initial distributor, although it remains uncertain if additional retailers will offer the device in the future.

Featuring a fanless design, the Windows 365 Link is equipped with sufficient processing power to handle applications for video conferencing, including Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex, directly on the device. It includes four USB ports (three Type-A and one Type-C), Bluetooth 5.3 support for wireless peripherals, and a 3.5 mm audio port for headsets. Connectivity options are robust, with a Gigabit Ethernet port and Wi-Fi 6E capability, allowing users to connect up to two 4K displays via DisplayPort and HDMI. Additionally, a Kensington lock provides security against theft.

Measuring just 120x120x30 millimeters and weighing only 418 grams, the Windows 365 Link is powered by Intel's N250 mobile processor (codenamed Twin Lake), which features four cores and a maximum clock speed of 3.8 GHz. It is complemented by 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 64 GB of flash storage.

Microsoft emphasizes the enhanced security provided by cloud PCs compared to traditional desktop computers. The cloud environment is inherently more secure, and management is simplified through Microsoft Intune, which allows for the administration of cloud systems alongside existing devices. Furthermore, the Windows 365 Link starts up in mere seconds, as it does not rely on local applications or hard drives for file storage--everything is managed in the cloud.

Currently, the Windows 365 Link is available in Germany through a single vendor at a price of EUR419. Looking ahead, Microsoft has indicated that original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) will also create similar cloud PCs, with potential new offerings expected to emerge throughout 2025.
