A man arrested in Florida is accused of swallowing stolen earrings valued at hundreds of thousands of dollars. According to local authorities, the 32-year-old suspect posed as an employee of a sports star in a jewelry store located in Orlando at the end of February. He requested to see high-end jewelry, which included two pairs of earrings worth a staggering $769,500 (approximately EUR713,000).
As reported by police, the suspect suddenly seized the expensive items and attempted to flee the scene. An employee at Tiffany intervened in an effort to stop him, but the thief managed to escape in a vehicle. Law enforcement quickly began to investigate and were able to track him down.
In a desperate act, the suspect allegedly swallowed the earrings when confronted by the authorities. He is now facing charges of robbery and grand theft.
This incident highlights ongoing issues related to high-value thefts in luxury retail environments, where security measures are continuously evaluated in light of such brazen criminal behavior.
