In a devastating incident that highlights the ongoing conflict in the region, an Iranian rocket has obliterated the home of Noam Zion Malkiel, leaving behind only charred remnants of what was once a cherished family dwelling. The attack, which occurred in Rishon LeZion, resulted in significant injuries to Malkiel's grandparents, who had once fled Iran in search of safety.

Noam, a 24-year-old who spent his childhood in the house, expressed his disbelief as he surveyed the destruction. The once vibrant mango tree in the garden has been reduced to ashes, and the living room has been left in ruins. Noam reminisced about his upbringing, highlighting the close bond he shared with his grandparents, who were like second parents to him.

With family roots tracing back to Iran, Malkiel noted that his grandmother had previously maintained contact with relatives in their homeland, but those ties have faded over the years. Now, decades later, the very country they escaped from has brought about their suffering. Malkiel described the emotional turmoil of witnessing his grandfather in tears for the first time, a stark contrast to the strength he had always known.

The Israeli military reported that approximately 100 rockets were launched from Iran towards Israel, with some intercepted, while others caused destruction and loss of life. Tragically, the incident in Rishon LeZion resulted in the deaths of three individuals and left at least 20 others injured.

During the attack, Malkiel raced to his grandparents' home, navigating through the chaos of shattered glass and debris. His grandfather was trapped beneath collapsing walls, suffering injuries that left him shaken. Malkiel described his heartache at the sight of his grandfather's despair, marking a moment of profound family trauma.

He had intended to spend the night at his grandparents' house, which is now nothing but a memory. In the aftermath, he discovered a photo from his Bar Mitzvah caught in the remnants of the house, a poignant symbol of lost innocence amidst the tragedy.

Since the attack, life has irrevocably changed for Malkiel and his family. As the eldest son, he feels the weight of responsibility to hold the family together during this difficult time, especially as his mother grapples with the emotional fallout of this violent event.
