iPhone 17 Pro Features New Camera Design Inspired by Android

Thu 10th Apr, 2025

Recent leaks reveal that the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro will showcase a redesigned rear camera module, diverging from Apple's traditional square layout for its Pro models. This new design appears to draw inspiration from various Android smartphones, which often feature more diverse camera configurations.

According to reports, including images of protective cases from Asia, the iPhone 17 Pro will likely adopt a larger camera arrangement. Notably, the leak comes from well-known leaker Sonny Dickson, who indicated that the new camera cutout is significantly larger than previous models. This change is expected to attract attention, with the camera module positioned just above the MagSafe ring.

Additionally, it has been suggested that the color of the camera module will match the color of the device's casing, a departure from the previous trend of contrasting hues, such as black. This cohesive aesthetic may enhance the overall look of the phone, making it more appealing to consumers.

While the specific advantages of this new camera design remain unclear, it is anticipated that the layout will help differentiate the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max models. The camera sensors are expected to be arranged with the main imaging sensors on the left side and components such as the LIDAR sensor, microphone, and flash on the right. This arrangement is designed to utilize the full width of the phone's back, potentially reducing any wobbling when the device is placed on a flat surface, which could improve user experience.

There is speculation regarding the origin of these leaks, as occasionally, leaks can stimulate case manufacturers to develop products that align with rumored designs. The transparent plastic cases displayed are reminiscent of Apple's own clear cases, suggesting a trend toward compatibility with the anticipated design changes.

Apple is reportedly set to launch two Pro models alongside a new Air model characterized by a thinner profile, as well as a standard iPhone variant. The Pro models are expected to feature enhanced internal hardware and capabilities, including support for 8K video recording, which would mark a significant upgrade in mobile photography and videography.
