Authorities in Erfurt are making progress in their investigation into a suspicious fire that destroyed six Bundeswehr trucks at a military depot. The public prosecutor's office has announced that three individuals are currently being investigated in connection with the incident, which occurred on June 22.

According to a spokesperson from the Erfurt public prosecutor's office, the investigation is still in its early stages, and further details regarding the suspects, including their ages and nationalities, are being withheld for strategic reasons. It remains to be seen whether there is sufficient evidence to warrant formal charges against the suspects.

In the wake of the attack, the state criminal police agency had previously appealed to the public for any information that could assist in their inquiries. The trucks, which were parked at a maintenance facility, suffered extensive damage, with three of them completely destroyed and the remaining three partially damaged.

Shortly after the fire, video footage purportedly linked to the incident surfaced on a Russian-language Telegram channel, prompting speculation about potential Russian involvement. However, investigators have noted that similar attacks in the past have also involved claims of responsibility from left-wing extremist groups.

As the investigation unfolds, authorities are focusing on gathering evidence and assessing the motives behind this act of vandalism. The presence of military equipment has often made such installations targets for various groups, and the implications of this incident are being closely monitored by security experts.

The public prosecutor's office continues to work with local law enforcement agencies to ensure a thorough investigation, and they remain vigilant in assessing any potential threats to public safety.
