India Claims Attack on Pakistani Air Defense Systems Amid Rising Tensions

In a significant escalation of hostilities between India and Pakistan, the Indian government has reported that it conducted strikes against air defense systems located within Pakistan. This operation, which reportedly took place in the early hours of Thursday, targeted multiple locations, including a system situated in the populous city of Lahore.

The Indian military indicated that these actions were a direct response to attempts by Pakistan to utilize drones and rockets against military objectives in northern and western India. According to Indian officials, their forces successfully thwarted these incursions, although confirmation from Pakistani sources regarding the incidents is still pending.

The situation remains tense following Indian airstrikes on Pakistani targets the previous night, which were framed as a counteraction to a terrorist attack on April 22 in the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. This attack resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, primarily tourists from India, with New Delhi accusing Islamabad of complicity--a claim that Pakistan has vehemently denied.
