Fatal Stabbing Incident in Gelsenkirchen: Man Dies in Hallway

Gelsenkirchen, North Rhine-Westphalia - A tragic incident unfolded in the Schalke district when a 44-year-old man succumbed to injuries sustained during a violent stabbing attack. Emergency services received a distress call shortly before 10 PM, leading them to a four-story apartment building where the victim was found. Upon their arrival, the man was discovered in the stairwell, unresponsive and gravely wounded.

Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival. The circumstances surrounding the attack have prompted the deployment of a homicide investigation unit, tasked with piecing together the events that led to this fatal incident.

Preliminary investigations reveal that the stabbing occurred merely 100 meters away from the victim's residence. It is believed that the assailant or assailants attacked him before he managed to flee towards his home. The victim reportedly struggled to reach his apartment, managing to open the door before collapsing between the ground and first floors.

The police have commenced a manhunt for two young male suspects seen fleeing the scene. Witnesses described one of the individuals as approximately 18 to 19 years old, around 1.70 meters tall, with a normal build and curly black hair, dressed in a black jacket and blue jeans. The second suspect is described as younger, standing about 1.65 meters tall, with short dark hair.

Authorities are currently working to determine the motive behind the attack, with an autopsy scheduled to provide additional insights into the circumstances of the crime.
