Free travel for top students
After the corona-related restrictions of the past few years, the time has finally come again this year: Bavarian schoolchildren with very good grades are allowed to travel by train in Bavaria free of charge on the first day of vacation, July 31st.
Bavaria's Minister of Education Prof. Dr. Michael Piazolo said: "Travelling by train through Bavaria for free for a day - that's great recognition for very good performance and a very nice start to the well-deserved summer holidays." The Minister of Education to the students: "Your commitment was worth it! Take advantage of this great offer and choose a beautiful destination in Bavaria for your trip!"
Patrick Pönisch, Regional Manager Marketing DB Regio Bayern: "At the start of the holidays we can finally reward all first-class students with free travel on the Bavarian regional trains again this year."
The campaign "Free travel for top pupils" is aimed at the pupils of the Bavarian general education schools (special needs, elementary, middle, business, secondary, technical and vocational schools as well as grammar schools) with a "one", a "very good" or a corresponding current score in the certificate, or with a very good verbal report. It is valid on July 31, 2023 from midnight to midnight on all local trains in Bavaria in 2nd class. You must bring a copy of your certificate and a valid ID card, child ID or student ID.
In addition to the regional and S-Bahn trains of DB Regio, all other railway companies in Bavaria are taking part in the campaign on the same terms. In addition, students can travel from Bavaria to Lauda, Crailsheim, Ulm Hbf, Sonneberg (Thür) Hbf, Salzburg Hbf, Kufstein, via the Ausserfernbahn to Reutte and on the Memmingen - Wangen - Hergatz route.
