Parsberg, Bavaria - A tragic incident unfolded during a Kurdish New Year celebration on Sunday afternoon, resulting in a fatal stabbing. A 39-year-old man lost his life in the attack, while no additional injuries were reported. Emergency services, including ambulances and police, responded to the scene in the Upper Palatinate region of Bavaria.

According to preliminary police reports, the altercation began when two men engaged in a dispute. A 43-year-old Syrian national allegedly drew a knife and stabbed his 39-year-old counterpart. The suspect was apprehended shortly after the incident.

The outdoor event reportedly attracted at least 500 attendees. Initial media reports mistakenly identified the gathering as a wedding; however, this was later clarified.

Sources indicate that the conflict stemmed from a long-standing family feud. The two cousins, who had been estranged, coincidentally met at the Kurdish New Year celebration. During the confrontation, one of the cousins allegedly grabbed a 30-centimeter kitchen knife, which was situated near a campfire, and fatally attacked the other.

Witnesses reported that the victim was struck directly in the heart. Efforts were made by another attendee to revive him, providing CPR and mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. Unfortunately, when medical personnel arrived, the man had already succumbed to his injuries.

Throughout the ordeal, bystanders managed to restrain the alleged attacker until police arrived on the scene. The timeline for when the suspect will be presented before a judge remains uncertain.

Law enforcement cordoned off the entire area in Parsberg, deploying a significant police presence. Guests were initially prohibited from leaving the premises as they were considered witnesses and needed to provide statements. Authorities have requested any available video or photographic evidence related to the incident.

Visitors were gradually allowed to leave the site later in the evening after their identities had been recorded.
