NAILBOMB
Free & Easy presents: Nailbomb, the illegitimate child of Max Cavalera and Alex Newport, is a timeless collection of ballistic artillery. Born as a side project for fun, it evolved into one of the most well-known punk hate albums, remaining relevant for decades. The record was created in the Cavalera family nanny's bedroom between 1992-1993. Alex manned the sampler while the duo threw around beats, riffs, and noise, filled with laughter and grins. Some days, the washer and dryer took a beating; other days, car tires burned rubber outside their Altadena home. This all culminated in a deal with Roadrunner Records and a recording at Chaton Studios, turning an idea Gloria Cavalera envisioned into reality.
After the album's release, demand for live shows soared. The band received an irresistible offer to play at the legendary Dynamo Festival in Holland. Alex and Max chose musicians they felt matched the album's atmosphere, including three drummers: Iggor Cavalera (Sepultura), Peligro (Dead Kennedys), and Barry Schneider (Tribe After Tribe, R.I.P.). Dave Edwardson (Neurosis) handled bass, Rhys Fulber (Front Line Assembly) took care of the sampler, with Max and Alex on guitars and vocals. In 2017, Nailbomb was resurrected as political tensions mirrored the early '90s. The frustration with the wealthy elite and the corruption of politics and war sparked a revival of the band. The new lineup featured Max Cavalera on guitars/vocals, Igor Amadeus capturing Alex Newport's vocals and managing the sampler, Mike Leon on bass, Marc Rizzo on guitar, and Zyon Cavalera on drums. This group toured North America for nine weeks before returning to the vault.
In 2018, Canada was treated to a three-week tour beginning on the west coast and concluding on the east side, a legendary feat not commonly undertaken by most bands. On November 9th, Nailbomb will perform once again at the Maximum Cavalera Max Cavalera Dynasty Show in Tempe, AZ at the Marquee Theatre. They will share the stage with Soulfly, Incite, Go Ahead And Die, Healing Magic, Jade Helm, and several of Phoenix's top local acts. The lineup will include Max and Igor Amadeus on guitars and vocals, Travis Stone from Pig Destroyer and the Cavalera band on the third guitar, Alex Cha, also from Pig Destroyer on the sampler, Johny Chow from Stone Sour on bass, and Adam Jarvis from Pig Destroyer and Misery Index on drums. This is a once-in-a-lifetime show!
As we navigate the 2020s, rising global frustration and anxiety call for another eruption of Nailbomb. Thirty years after its inception in 1995, the Nailbomb hate project rises again in 2025. Who will bring chaos to the stage? Igor Amadeus has received approval from Alex Newport to unleash his anger alongside his father, the famed political activist and musician, Max Cavalera. Don't miss this fire!
