Mon 17th Feb, 2025

At Berlin Brandenburg Airport (BER), a serious incident occurred involving a paramedic who reportedly lost control and assaulted a patient. The situation escalated unexpectedly during a medical emergency response, prompting intervention from law enforcement.

According to reports, the incident took place last Thursday evening around 10 PM in Terminal 1. Initially, emergency services were called to assist a 33-year-old man experiencing a medical crisis. The Bundespolizei (Federal Police) were already on-site prior to the arrival of the paramedics, and airport security was notified of the unfolding events.

As the paramedics began attending to the patient, the situation took a dramatic turn. After a brief assessment, the emergency team decided to request a doctor's vehicle for further assistance. This led to a confrontation between the paramedic and the injured man, who was lying on the ground at the time.

Witnesses reported that the patient allegedly verbally assaulted the paramedic and attempted to kick him. In response, the paramedic is said to have forcibly kicked the patient in the leg and head. Following this altercation, the man began to bleed profusely from his mouth. The Bundespolizei immediately intervened to restrain the paramedic.

Subsequently, the Landespolizei (State Police) initiated an investigation into the incident, classifying it as a case of dangerous bodily harm. The injured individual was transported to a hospital in Neukölln for further medical evaluation and treatment.

Reports indicate that the paramedic involved is the head of the emergency services station at the airport, although this information has not been officially confirmed. The Bundespolizei has acknowledged the incident, while the relevant emergency service has yet to release a public statement.

This disturbing event has raised concerns regarding the conduct of emergency personnel and the conditions under which they operate, especially in high-pressure environments such as airports.
