Heroic Dog Alerts Family to Basement Fire

A quick-thinking canine played a crucial role in saving a family from a potential disaster in Kalenborn-Scheuern when it alerted them to a fire in their basement. The incident occurred in the early hours of the morning, around 1:20 AM, when the dog detected the sound of the smoke alarm ringing from the cellar.

The family, awakened by their pet's actions, quickly realized that smoke was billowing from the basement. The 27-year-old son of the homeowners took immediate action, grabbing a fire extinguisher to combat the flames originating from a malfunctioning gas heater. His prompt response successfully contained the fire, preventing it from spreading further.

Emergency services, including volunteer fire departments from Kalenborn, Scheuern, Müllenborn, Duppach, Oos, and Gerolstein, were dispatched to the scene. However, upon arrival, they found that the situation had been effectively managed, and no additional firefighting efforts were necessary.
