Disorderly Passenger Causes Disturbance on Dortmund Train

A 37-year-old man created a scene at Dortmund's main train station on February 27, leading to police intervention. At around 10 AM, the Federal Police were alerted about a passenger behaving aggressively on the Regional Express RE6, which runs between Hamm and Cologne. Reports indicated he was smoking on the train and had verbally assaulted a train attendant.

Upon arrival at platform 18, officers encountered the suspect and the train conductor. The 39-year-old conductor recounted that she had discovered the man smoking in one of the compartments. After asking him to stop, he responded with multiple insults. Following this incident, she decided to call the authorities.

As the train approached Dortmund station, the man allegedly seized an emergency hammer and began shouting extremist slogans. A fellow passenger, 45, corroborated these accounts. The police faced further verbal abuse from the suspect when they confronted him. He was subsequently handcuffed and taken to the Federal Police station. During transport, he continued to express inappropriate slogans.

A search of the suspect's belongings uncovered a copy of his identification and the stolen emergency hammer. Authorities later discovered that the man was wanted by the Paderborn public prosecutor for fraud. A breathalyzer test revealed a blood alcohol level of 2.3 per mille. To mitigate the risk of further offenses, the homeless man was taken into custody. Medical personnel confirmed his ability to be detained. He continued to insult the medical staff and displayed disrespect towards officers while in custody.

The Federal Police have initiated investigations for serious theft, insults, property damage, use of unconstitutional symbols, interference with safety devices, and violations of non-smoking regulations.
