The Federal Prosecutor's Office of Germany has announced the arrest of a man in Denmark, suspected of espionage activities on behalf of Iran, targeting Jewish institutions in Germany. The individual, identified as Ali S., is believed to have gathered intelligence that could have been intended for potential attacks.

According to the Federal Prosecutor's Office, Ali S., a Danish national, allegedly received instructions from an Iranian intelligence agency earlier this year. His task was to collect information on Jewish locations and specific individuals in Berlin. Reports indicate that he surveilled three sites in June, which may have been preparatory steps for further covert operations in Germany, potentially including attacks against Jewish targets.

The case against him was reportedly initiated based on intelligence provided by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution, with investigations carried out by the Federal Criminal Police Office (Bundeskriminalamt). Following his extradition from Denmark, it is expected that Ali S. will be presented to the investigating judge at the Federal Court of Justice.

This incident highlights ongoing concerns regarding espionage activities linked to Iranian operatives in Europe, particularly targeting Jewish communities. The German authorities are vigilant about such threats, given the historical context and the rising anti-Semitism in various parts of Europe.

The Federal Prosecutor's Office continues to investigate the broader implications of this case, including any connections to larger networks that might be involved in espionage or terrorist activities.
