Bundeswehr Expands Recruitment Efforts at Major Fitness Expo

The Bundeswehr is actively seeking new recruits by showcasing its military prowess at prominent events, including the recent Fibo fitness expo, one of the largest of its kind in the world. With a pressing need for personnel, the military is exploring various avenues to attract potential candidates, from social media campaigns to interactive displays at public events.

At Fibo, attendees engage in various fitness-related activities, ranging from testing their strength on obstacle courses to sampling a wide range of protein supplements. Amid this energetic atmosphere, Bundeswehr soldiers demonstrate their skills on a challenging military obstacle course, aiming to recruit individuals who may consider joining the armed forces.

The Bundeswehr's presence at the expo is marked by its distinct setup, which includes armored vehicles and soldiers showcasing combat techniques. This approach underscores the military's message of resilience and readiness, contrasting with the more commercial displays of nutrition and fitness products nearby. The Bundeswehr is investing heavily in outreach initiatives--over EUR58 million in 2024--targeting schools, social media platforms, and public events to attract new talent.

At the Fibo expo, the military's obstacle course challenges participants with physical tasks that simulate the demands of military training. Visitors are encouraged to attempt various exercises, including pull-ups with weighted vests and navigating high barriers, all while experiencing the intensity of military fitness training.
