Oasis Launches Long-Awaited Reunion Tour in Cardiff
CARDIFF, Wales -- After a hiatus of 16 years, the iconic band Oasis made a triumphant return on July 4, 2025, to kick off their highly anticipated reunion tour at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff. The concert drew a crowd of over 60,000 fans, many of whom had traveled from across the globe to witness the band perform their classic hits from the 1990s.
The show began with a montage showcasing headlines about the famously feuding Gallagher brothers, culminating in the message that the 'guns have fallen silent.' As the band took the stage, they opened with 'Hello,' a fitting choice given the occasion, and the crowd erupted in cheers.
Liam Gallagher, known for his charismatic stage presence, and Noel Gallagher, the band's chief songwriter and guitarist, shared the spotlight, albeit while maintaining a certain distance typical of their dynamic. Throughout the performance, the setlist featured fan favorites from their debut album 'Definitely Maybe' and its follow-up, '(What's the Story) Morning Glory,' along with a selection of B-sides and later tracks.
As the evening progressed, the energy in the stadium soared. Songs like 'Supersonic,' 'Roll With It,' and 'Rock 'n' Roll Star' prompted thunderous sing-alongs from the audience. Liam, clad in a parka, encouraged the crowd to embrace one another, fostering a sense of unity with his call to raise their arms in celebration.
A particularly poignant moment came during the performance of 'Live Forever,' when an image of Liverpool Football Club player Diogo Jota, who tragically died in a car accident just days prior, was projected above the stage, paying tribute to the late athlete.
Noel Gallagher took the lead on several tracks, including the emotional 'Half the World Away,' while the show closed with encores featuring some of the band's most beloved songs: 'Don't Look Back in Anger,' 'Wonderwall,' and 'Champagne Supernova.' The visual presentation included multicolored projections that enhanced the performance without overshadowing the music itself.
The reunion tour, titled Live '25, is set to span 19 dates across the U.K. and Ireland, followed by performances in North America, South America, Asia, and Australia, concluding in Sao Paulo on November 23. Fans lined the streets around the stadium prior to the concert, sharing memories and singing along to Oasis hits, some even purchasing exclusive merchandise to commemorate the occasion.
Many attendees expressed the significance of this reunion, viewing it as a nostalgic celebration of their youth. For some, it was not just about the music but also a shared experience with friends and family that had endured over decades. One fan noted the emotional weight of attending the concert with childhood friends, highlighting the generational connection that Oasis has forged.
Despite the excitement, the ticketing process for the tour has faced criticism, with many fans reporting exorbitant prices and technical issues when trying to secure their spots. U.K. Parliament has since addressed concerns regarding ticketing practices, especially in light of the surge in prices that left many fans feeling frustrated.
While the reunion brings joy to countless fans, there are currently no plans for the band to record new music. The tour serves as an opportunity for Oasis to reconnect with their audience and reinforce their musical legacy. Music critics suggest this reunion could rejuvenate their brand, reminding both longtime fans and new listeners of the band's enduring impact on the music scene.
