LOS ANGELES -- Michael Madsen, the acclaimed actor known for his formidable portrayals in Quentin Tarantino's films such as Reservoir Dogs and Kill Bill, has died at the age of 66. Authorities reported that he was discovered unresponsive at his residence in Malibu, California, on Thursday morning. Following the arrival of emergency services, he was pronounced dead. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department indicated that Madsen's death is believed to be due to natural causes, with no signs of foul play detected.

Madsen's manager revealed that cardiac arrest was likely the cause of death. Over the course of his extensive career, Madsen appeared in more than 300 films, beginning in the early 1980s. Although he participated in numerous low-budget productions, his most iconic scene remains the chilling torture of a police officer while dancing to Stealers Wheel's "Stuck in the Middle with You" in the 1992 classic Reservoir Dogs.

His collaboration with Tarantino continued throughout the years, with roles in the Kill Bill series and The Hateful Eight. In a statement, Madsen's representatives noted that in recent years, he had been engaged in exciting projects within independent cinema, including upcoming films like Resurrection Road, Concessions, and Cookbook for Southern Housewives. They expressed that Madsen was looking forward to this new chapter in his career and emphasized his status as one of Hollywood's most iconic figures, who would be deeply missed by many.

During a handprint ceremony at the TCL Chinese Theatre in November 2020, Madsen reminisced about his first experiences in Hollywood during the early 1980s. He reflected on the uncertainty he faced at the time regarding his future in acting, stating that he could have pursued various other careers but ultimately found success and fulfillment in the film industry.
