McDonald's Announces Return of Snack Wraps Amid Demand

Wed 4th Jun, 2025

McDonald's has confirmed the return of its popular Snack Wrap on July 10, following nearly a decade since it was last available in the U.S. The announcement comes in response to long-standing customer demand, with many fans expressing their desire for the item to be reinstated since its discontinuation in 2016.

The Snack Wrap, which consists of a tortilla filled with chicken, lettuce, cheese, and sauce, was initially introduced nearly twenty years ago to provide a convenient option for on-the-go consumers. However, due to complications in preparation, McDonald's phased it out in the U.S. market.

Despite its removal, loyal customers have continued to advocate for its return. A Facebook group dedicated to the Snack Wrap has gained traction, and a petition on Change.org has amassed nearly 19,000 signatures. Additionally, a TikTok video showcasing a food review of the Snack Wrap in Ireland, where it remains available, garnered over 1.4 million views, highlighting the enduring popularity of the item.

Joe Erlinger, President of McDonald's U.S., emphasized that the decision to bring back the Snack Wrap reflects the company's commitment to listening to its consumers. The return of the Snack Wrap is also strategically timed as inflation has led to a decline in fast-food sales, making lower-priced options appealing to budget-conscious customers.

Health-conscious consumers may also appreciate the smaller size and tortilla wrap of the Snack Wrap. For many, it represents a lighter alternative in a fast-food landscape dominated by larger, calorie-dense items. The renewed offering will initially feature only fried chicken variants available in Ranch or Spicy flavors, a departure from the previous grilled chicken option and additional sauce varieties.

In preparation for the Snack Wrap's comeback, McDonald's has made adjustments to streamline the preparation process and ensure that its staff is adequately trained. With the fast-food industry experiencing a downturn in traffic, McDonald's is looking to regain its footing by reintroducing beloved menu items like the Snack Wrap.

McDonald's has faced challenges in maintaining customer interest, particularly as competitors such as Popeyes, Burger King, and Wendy's have entered the chicken wrap market. The fast-food giant aims to capitalize on the growing demand for chicken dishes, which are currently outperforming beef sales.

While the exact pricing for the Snack Wrap in the U.S. remains undisclosed, it is anticipated that it will be competitively priced to attract diners who have shifted towards home-cooked meals due to rising fast-food costs. For context, similar offerings from competitors are priced around $2.99, suggesting McDonald's may adopt a similar pricing strategy.

As consumer dining habits evolve, with many preferring smaller meals throughout the day, the Snack Wrap's return could resonate well with those seeking convenient, quick meal options. The company has expressed a willingness to adapt its menu based on consumer feedback, indicating potential future expansions of the Snack Wrap line.
