BR Volleys Aim for Swift Path to Championship Finals

Tue 8th Apr, 2025

The BR Volleys are determined to secure their spot in the finals of the German Volleyball Championship with the least amount of delay. The record champions need to win three matches against Giesen to advance, and they are eager to achieve their second victory quickly.

Before the second match against the Grizzlies Giesen, set for Wednesday at 19:00 in Hildesheim, outside hitter Moritz Reichert expressed the team's intent to conclude the playoff semifinal as efficiently as possible. The semifinal is structured as a best-of-five series.

The titleholder laid a solid foundation for a quick progression with a resounding 3:0 victory in the opening match against Giesen. However, General Manager Kaweh Niroomand cautions that the upcoming match will present a different challenge. The playing conditions in Hildesheim's arena, with a notably lower ceiling than the Max-Schmeling-Halle, will require adjustments to their serving techniques. Players like Reichert must adapt their strategies accordingly.

Moreover, the atmosphere in the sold-out arena, with a capacity of 2,500 spectators, is expected to be intense. Reichert acknowledged the difficulty of competing in such an environment, noting that Giesen will likely perform even better at home than they did in Berlin. Nonetheless, the Volleys draw confidence from their narrow 33:31 win in the first set of the semifinal's opening match. Niroomand remarked that the experience was invaluable, teaching the team resilience in the face of strong opposition.

As the BR Volleys prepare for this critical match, they remain focused on executing their game plan and maintaining their composure under pressure. The team understands the significance of each point in determining the outcome of the series, emphasizing teamwork and strategic play to secure their place in the finals.
