A 25-year-old man from Bochum was involved in a bicycle accident on January 27 at approximately 10:50 PM, during which he fell and sustained minor injuries. The incident occurred at the intersection of Essener Straße and Engelsburger Straße, where the cyclist lost control without any external interference. Upon the arrival of law enforcement, it was discovered that the individual had a pending arrest warrant against him. A breathalyzer test conducted by the police revealed a blood alcohol concentration of 1.4 per mille, indicating a significant level of intoxication. Additionally, a preliminary drug test indicated the presence of cannabis in his system. As a result of these findings, the authorities apprehended the cyclist and transported him to a hospital for outpatient treatment, where a blood sample was also taken for further analysis. Following the completion of his medical treatment, the Bochum resident was subsequently placed in custody at a correctional facility. The local traffic investigation unit is currently handling the ongoing inquiries related to this incident. The situation highlights ongoing concerns regarding road safety and the implications of substance abuse on public safety. Authorities continue to emphasize the importance of responsible behavior, especially while operating vehicles, whether they be motorized or non-motorized. It also reiterates the critical need for individuals to be mindful of their actions, particularly in situations that could endanger themselves and others on the road.
