Bielefeld: 25-Year-Old Romanian Arrested for High-Value Perfume Theft

Bielefeld - A 25-year-old man from Romania was apprehended on January 27, 2025, while attempting to steal perfume from a drugstore located on Bahnhofstraße. The individual was caught during two separate theft attempts, which involved concealing merchandise worth several thousand euros in a specially designed bag.

During the second incident, store security personnel were able to detain the suspect, leading to the discovery of the stolen items. Law enforcement confirmed both thefts, and it was revealed that the suspect does not have a permanent residence in Germany. Additionally, he is reported to struggle with drug addiction.

This individual has a history of criminal behavior, having faced charges for multiple thefts in the past, and has previously served two prison sentences. On January 28, 2025, a magistrate issued an order for the suspect's detention at the request of the public prosecutor, resulting in his placement in investigative custody. The ongoing legal proceedings will determine the next steps in this case.
