Significant Disruptions on Berlin's S-Bahn Due to Easter Construction Projects

Mon 7th Apr, 2025

As the Easter holidays approach, commuters in Berlin should prepare for substantial disruptions on the S-Bahn network. Starting from next Friday at 10:00 PM, the line between Ostbahnhof and Alexanderplatz will be closed for eleven days due to essential construction work. Services are expected to resume on April 22 at 1:30 AM.

The affected lines include S3, S5, S7, S75, and S9. Except for the S75, all other lines will be interrupted solely between the two stations, with services continuing from Alexanderplatz and Ostbahnhof in their respective directions. Replacement buses will operate on the closed section, and passengers are advised to consider switching to regional train services, which will not be impacted by these disruptions.

The S75 will be operational between Wartenberg and Lichtenberg during the weekend's overnight services and before the nights leading up to the Easter holidays, covering the route between Wartenberg and Warschauer Straße.

Additionally, construction work will take place between Erkner and Rahnsdorf, where a bus replacement service will also be in place. The S3 will resume its regular service from Rahnsdorf. These construction activities are scheduled to begin on the same Friday and are set to continue until May 5.

Moreover, there will be an earlier service suspension on Wednesday between Strausberg Nord and Strausberg, where the S5 line will also be replaced by bus services until April 25.
