Köln, Germany - A dramatic attempted murder case has unfolded in Cologne, where a man allegedly broke into his ex-wife's home with the intent to kill her. The accused, identified as Ali T., is facing trial for attempted murder following a horrifying incident that occurred last September, just one month after the couple's divorce.

According to the prosecution, Ali T. stealthily entered the residence through the terrace door during the night while his ex-wife was asleep in the living room. The couple had been married for 29 years before their separation.

Once inside, the defendant reportedly attacked his former spouse, striking her repeatedly. The prosecution claims he wore a painter's coverall and two layers of latex gloves during the assault. The situation escalated when he allegedly grabbed her by the neck and applied pressure until she struggled to breathe. As the victim fought back, the accused is said to have pressed her face into a pillow, rendering her nearly unconscious.

It was only thanks to the timely intervention of their two sons that the woman survived the brutal attack. The boys managed to pull their father away from their mother and restrained him until the authorities arrived. Police were called to the scene, leading to the suspect's arrest and subsequent detention.

During the proceedings, the accused made incoherent statements, claiming that he had been attacked by his ex-wife and their three children prior to the incident. The trial is ongoing, and if convicted, Ali T. faces a potential sentence of up to 15 years in prison.
