Arrests Made in Connection with Reichsbürger Group Reuß

Authorities have apprehended three men linked to the Reichsbürger group Reuß, following their participation in a firearms training event held in April 2022 at a former Bundeswehr shooting range near Bayreuth, Bavaria. Investigators, according to the State Criminal Police Office (LKA), believe these training sessions were intended to prepare for a potential attack on the German Bundestag.

In total, investigations are underway against five men and one woman, aged between 40 and 61. Prior to the recent operations, arrest warrants had been issued for the three detained individuals. During the police operations, approximately 300 law enforcement officers were deployed, resulting in the seizure of items regulated under the Weapons Act, as well as various data storage devices that will now undergo further examination.

It is important to note that the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The ongoing investigations into the Reichsbürger group Reuß come amid three significant terrorism trials currently taking place nationwide against members of the group. This group gained notoriety following an anti-terror raid in late 2022, where it was alleged that its members had plotted to overthrow the government, with a willingness to accept casualties as part of their plan.

Heinrich XIII, Prince Reuß, was purportedly positioned to lead a new state structure should their plans have been successfully executed. The situation continues to evolve as law enforcement agencies remain vigilant in their efforts to curb extremist activities.
