This population includes nearly 220 former local staff members of German entities, about 60 individuals listed for their advocacy of human rights, close to 600 people under a bridging program, and over 1,000 Afghans identified under the federal admission scheme. The persistent delays and bureaucratic hurdles have led many to endure prolonged stays in Islamabad, awaiting the finalization of their documentation and travel arrangements.

German authorities have emphasized that every Afghan admitted under these programs must undergo a thorough vetting process. This includes security screenings and background checks to maintain the integrity of the migration system.
