Accident on A12 Near Fürstenwalde: Road Closure Lifted

On the A12 highway near Fürstenwalde in the district of Oder-Spree, a collision occurred between two vehicles, resulting in injuries to two women. The accident took place on Thursday morning, prompting a temporary complete closure of the road in the direction of Berlin while emergency services responded to the scene.

Traffic was significantly affected, leading to a lengthy jam that extended between the exits of Briesen and Fürstenwalde-Ost. However, as of around 10:00 AM, authorities announced that the road had been reopened to traffic in both directions.

Initial reports from law enforcement indicate that the incident involved a crash between two cars. A 31-year-old woman, who was driving one of the vehicles, and a 54-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the other car, sustained injuries and were transported to a local hospital for treatment. Clarifications regarding the severity of their injuries and the presence of any other occupants in the vehicles have not yet been provided by the police.

The circumstances leading to the collision remain unclear, and investigations are ongoing. The police have estimated the total damage from the incident to be approximately 80,000 euros.
