On July 8th there will be an entertaining hands-on program for mental fitness at the new "Mental Health Arts Festival" in the Gasteig HP8. In addition there will also be present: indie pop singer Antje Schomaker and director Caroline Link. Admission is free.

Have you ever written a poetry slam text yourself? Personal experiences drawn as comics? Did you sing a pop song together with others at the Go Sing Choir or do Qigong on the Isar? For a day you can try outalmost 50 events in the Gasteig HP8. Most of these are hands-on workshops . In addition, concerts, theater and discussions take place.

At the opening event at 12:30 p.m. between two poetry slam performances, a panel will address the question of why the topic of mental health needs a platform like the Gasteig HP8.

"The state of our mental health is one of the most burning issues in our society. That is why it is important to deal with it. We do this in the form of a festival. We show that it can also be fun," says Gasteig Managing Director Max Wagner . "Many of us know people in our environment who are affected by burnout, depression or anxiety. And yet it is rarely talked about openly. We want to change that."

Culture is entertaining and at the same time good for you,so treat yourself to the concert by the German indie pop singer Antje Schomaker in the Isarphilharmonie . In her songs about her own life, she encourages and heals some mental wounds in others.In the afternoon, Schomaker takes part in a discussion about pressure to perform and burnout in the music industry.

Schomaker's concert in the evening will be complemented by the two Deaf performers Irina Remlein and Ilknur Warnecke. Despite being deaf, they present a performance parallel to the sound of Schomaker - and through sign language make music visible, barrier-free and perceptible with all senses.

The explosive nature of the topic has also long since arrived in the film industry: the Munich film director and Oscar winner Caroline Link is sitting on the stage at the discussion about "Mental Health in Film and Series", together with Ipek Zübert, director and author of the comedy series "The Mopes", and Mike Rüb, expert in cinema education.

Participation and trying things out are the order of the day: in workshops on using your voice and various forms of dance, for example, you can feel your own body, and refresh memories on the biography course. And children experience culture in a playful way in dance and drum workshops.

If you want to take a breather from all the cultural input, you can do this for a quarter of an hour at the "Mental Gas Station" all day long: the musician and coach Angelo Bard will help you to recharge your batteries with short meditations.
