The American robotics firm Apptronik is making significant strides in the production of its humanoid robot, Apollo. In a recent announcement, the company revealed a partnership with Jabil, a supply chain and manufacturing services provider, to enhance the manufacturing process of Apollo robots.
According to the agreement, Jabil will commence production of the humanoid robots once Apollo reaches a level of maturity suitable for commercial deployment. Initially, Jabil will assist Apptronik with testing and refining the robot's capabilities. Both companies are located in Florida, facilitating a more efficient collaboration between development, manufacturing, and testing.
The partnership will also involve deploying a certain number of Apollo robots in logistics and production environments, where they will handle tasks such as transporting components and performing repetitive actions during manufacturing processes. Apollo is currently demonstrating its capabilities in a pilot project with Mercedes-Benz, where it has been tasked with similar roles.
As production ramps up, Apollo will gradually take on more complex manufacturing tasks, with the long-term goal of enabling the robots to build their own counterparts. This innovative approach aims to significantly increase production volumes and efficiency in the robotics sector. While Apptronik faces competition from other robotics companies like Agility Robotics, Figure AI, Boston Dynamics, and Tesla, which are also developing humanoid robots for industrial applications, the company's recent financial backing of $350 million from a Series A funding round in February 2025 will help fuel its initiatives.
Apptronik's collaboration with Jabil is crucial for the company to meet the demands of industrial clients promptly and maintain a competitive edge. Additionally, Apptronik has teamed up with Google DeepMind to develop artificial intelligence capabilities for Apollo, a partnership that was announced in December 2024.
