Outrage has sparked amongst the hosts of the Wies'n; the tent owners want Wies'n coke out.
Completely legal and equally harmless, Wies'n coke (or Wies'nkoks as it is called) is mix of menthol and dextrose sugar designed to give a rush alongside the usual Oktoberfest beer buzz. The mixture is meant to be snorted into the nose through a straw, yet some people resort to hands and tabletops - no matter the means, it's all the same in the end.
Though this practice has been common at past Oktoberfest celebrations, this year the tent owners are putting their feet down. None of them want drugs, or anything that bears resemblance to drugs, in their tents. Wies'nkoks comes in the form of a white powder, which looks dangerously similar to real cocaine. The Oktoberfest is meant to be a jovial affair with beer ensuring happiness throughout.
Electric cigarettes have also been deemed ridiculous, as smoking was banned in tents in 2010. Beer is the only substance that the tent owners want present inside their establishments and perhaps rightly so, as that is what the Wies'n is known for around the world.
Over the years the motto "Drogen: nein danke, wiesnkoks: ja bitte" (Drugs: no thank you, Wies'n coke: yes please) has been used to silence doubters, but this year, it may well rest at "Drugs: no thank you."
