Sun 23rd Jul, 2023

The Munich start-up center celebrated the opening of its new Werk1.4 building with an official ceremony followed by a summer party. With the new Coliving, Werk1 wants to support startups in bringing employees from all over the world to Munich.

The doors of Werk1 Coliving have been open to its new residents since June. The living concept includes 63 modern apartments that offer everything you need to live in a very small space. The entire new building covers more than 10,000 square meters in addition to the apartments, other offices, event and meeting areas, a new co-working space and a café.  The central location in the Werksviertel-Mitte also offers direct access to the entire infrastructure of Werk1.

Minister of State and Deputy Prime Minister Hubert Aiwanger as well as many representatives of the state capital Munich and shareholders of Werk1 also took part in the opening ceremony on July 20th. Robert Richter, Managing Director of Werk1, stated:

"With the addition of the coliving concept, Werk1 wants to meet the needs of the rapidly growing tech startup scene in Munich and make the city of Munich even more attractive for the regional and international startup scene. At the same time, Werk1 remains true to its claim of being the most startup-friendly place in Munich."

Coliving: living and working together

Derived from co-working, in which freelancers and startups share workspaces, co-living transfers the idea of community to the living area and is intended to reflect the millennial attitude to life. The residents not only share the living space, but also interests and spirit. Founders can rent the apartments in the Werk1.4 extension flexibly from one to six months. In addition, residents have numerous services at their disposal: from laundry service to cleaning and WiFi, everything is included, as is access to coaching and mentoring from Werk1. In addition to the fully equipped apartments with their own balcony, there are also large communal areas with a spacious kitchen, dining and living area for coliving residents.
