UN Security Council Urges Withdrawal of Rwandan Forces from DR Congo

The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has issued a resolution calling for the immediate withdrawal of Rwandan troops from the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) amid ongoing conflict involving the M23 rebel group. This marks a significant moment as it is the first time the UNSC has directly attributed responsibility to Rwanda for its support of the M23 rebels.

According to UN assessments, approximately 4,000 Rwandan soldiers are believed to be aiding the M23, which has recently expanded its control over large areas in North Kivu and South Kivu provinces.
