A recent auction of memorabilia from the legendary Austrian singer Udo Jürgens has drawn significant attention, culminating in the sale of his distinctive bathrobe for an impressive EUR26,400. This event, which took place at Sotheby's, highlighted the immense demand for items associated with the late musician, who passed away in 2014.

During the auction, a remarkable total of 3,150 bids were placed by nearly 400 participants, showcasing the fervor of collectors and fans eager to own a piece of Jürgens' legacy. The auction included a variety of items, but the standout was a glass concert piano that sold for a staggering EUR240,000, far exceeding its estimated price of EUR20,000 to EUR30,000.

The glass piano, which accompanied Jürgens during many performances, is seen as a true treasure by his admirers. One memorable performance involved Jürgens playing the instrument on the Jungfraujoch in the Swiss Alps, an event he recounted as one of the coldest experiences of his career.

In total, the auction raised approximately EUR1.7 million, significantly surpassing the estimated range of EUR370,000 to EUR500,000 for the entire collection. Proceeds from the auction are set to support the Udo Jürgens Foundation, which continues his philanthropic efforts.

Apart from the bathrobe, other notable items included a flight helmet worn by Jürgens during a memorable trip with the German Air Force, which sold for EUR31,200, and stage-worn shoes that fetched EUR10,800, both well above their initial estimates.

The auction serves as a testament to Udo Jürgens' enduring legacy in the music industry, with many of his fans eager to celebrate his contributions through the acquisition of these unique artifacts.
