TUM again ranked first in Germany
For the ninth time in a row, TUM is ranked first in Germany in the prestigious QS World University Rankings. It is ranked second in the European Union and 37 overall. International research networks and sustainability standards are now included for the first time in the QS rankings.
Surveys of academics and employers are used to compile the university quality rankings produced by the British university service provider QS Quacquarelli Symonds. Additionally, it evaluates the number of times published research has been cited, the faculty-to-student ratio, and the proportions of international staff and students. In the most recent edition, new criteria are included, including successful graduates, a variety of international research collaborations, and sustainability considerations.
TUM is currently ranked 37th, having advanced 12 spots from the previous year. It ranks among the top 10 universities in all of Europe and is the second-best university in the EU. Because of this, TUM continues to top all three of the most significant university rankings in Germany. These also include the Academic Ranking of World Universities (also known as the "Shanghai Ranking") and the THE World University Rankings.
28th in the world for engineering and the natural sciences
The latest edition of the QS World University Rankings by Subject, which ranks universities by subject areas and individual disciplines, placed TUM 28th in both engineering and technology and natural sciences. It is in the top 25 in five different fields, coming in at 15th and 18th place respectively in physics and astronomy and electrical and electronic engineering. TUM ranks in the top 50 for a further seven subjects.
The high caliber of TUM's research, instruction, and innovation are frequently confirmed by numerous other rankings. This includes Germany's top spot in the recently released Nature Index for academic institutions. TUM is ranked first globally for innovation in the THE Impact Rankings and 12th overall in the Global University Employability Ranking.
