Tue 25th Feb, 2025

Authorities recently carried out a series of inspections on trucks traveling along the A24 motorway, specifically between the Walsleben and Herzsprung interchanges, located in the Ostprignitz-Ruppin district. The operation revealed a significant number of infractions among the commercial drivers.

During these inspections conducted on Monday morning, police identified that 15 trucks failed to maintain the legally required minimum distance of 50 meters from other vehicles. Additionally, two drivers were caught overtaking despite the prohibition in that zone. The police report indicated that seven drivers violated mandatory driving and rest period regulations, which are critical for ensuring road safety.

Further inspections conducted by an expert revealed serious deficiencies in the braking systems of three trailers. These findings underscore the importance of regular vehicle maintenance and adherence to safety standards to prevent potential accidents on the road.

It is noteworthy that there was a speed limit of 40 kilometers per hour enforced in the area where the inspections took place. Despite this, police recorded that 148 vehicles were observed exceeding the speed limit, highlighting a concerning trend of non-compliance with traffic laws.

The results from this inspection serve as a reminder of the ongoing efforts by law enforcement to enhance road safety, particularly concerning heavy vehicles that pose a greater risk due to their size and weight. The police continue to stress the importance of following traffic regulations to ensure the safety of all road users.
