In a troubling incident that took place during a barbecue at a migrant worker accommodation, two men have been charged with attempted murder. The trial commenced recently at the regional court in Potsdam, where the accused, aged 50 and 33, chose to remain silent throughout the proceedings.

The court's spokesperson noted that the defendants did not provide any statements during the initial session. According to the indictment, the two men allegedly attempted to fatally harm others in a premeditated manner, driven by base motivations, during a gathering in Brandenburg an der Havel last April.

The prosecution asserts that a dispute was intentionally instigated by the accused at the barbecue. The older of the two allegedly called upon the younger defendant and another individual, both armed with knives, to confront and severely injure another attendee. It is reported that one man was stabbed in the face, while another sustained injuries to his upper body. Furthermore, one of the victims was reportedly struck with a chair during the altercation.

On the first day of the trial, five witnesses, including eyewitnesses and one of the injured parties, provided testimony regarding the events that unfolded at the gathering.

This case highlights the serious consequences of violence and conflict escalation in social settings, drawing attention to the need for effective conflict resolution and community safety measures.
