Tragic Shooting Incident in Newark: One Officer Dead, Another in Critical Condition

According to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, the minor discharged his weapon approximately 29 times at the two responding officers. The motive for this violent outburst remains unclear, and authorities are investigating the circumstances leading to the shooting. Reports indicate that a backpack was recovered from the scene, which may serve as evidence related to the incident. It is suggested that the shooting may have followed a police encounter with the juvenile.
