Commuters in southwestern Berlin should prepare for longer travel times as significant construction work on the A115, also known as the Avus, continues. Starting Monday, a stretch of the highway will be reduced to a single lane in the direction of Dreieck Funkturm, specifically between the Kleinmachnow and Spanische Allee interchanges. According to the Traffic Information Center (VIZ), these lane restrictions are expected to last for an extended period, with estimates suggesting they could remain in effect until 2026.
In the opposite direction, drivers will still have access to two lanes. The affected section spans approximately 2.2 kilometers and is critical for daily commuters, with around 85,000 vehicles traversing this route each day.
In addition to the lane reduction, the A115 will be closed overnight on both Monday and Tuesday nights, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, between Kreuz Zehlendorf and the Spanische Allee interchange, as part of the ongoing construction efforts. Traffic will be diverted via the B1 during these hours.
The renovation of the A115 began in October and is set to unfold in four phases. The scope of the project includes not only the resurfacing of the road but also the rehabilitation of bridges, retaining walls, drainage systems, lane markings, and the ramps at the Kreuz Zehlendorf and Spanische Allee interchanges. This section of the highway has been in need of repair since 2017, according to the Autobahn GmbH.
