A significant fire broke out in an apartment located in a five-story building in the Neukölln district of Berlin, leading to the hospitalization of three individuals. According to reports from the Berlin Fire Department, the victims were injured and transported to a nearby hospital due to suspected smoke inhalation, although they managed to evacuate the premises on their own.
The incident occurred in the second floor unit of the building on Weserstraße and is currently under investigation to determine the cause of the blaze, which erupted during the morning hours. Firefighters noted that the flames engulfed the apartment in its entirety and spread to the unit directly above.
Emergency services responded swiftly, deploying a total of 93 firefighters to combat the flames and secure the surrounding area. The rapid response was crucial in preventing the fire from escalating further and affecting additional residents within the building.
Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the incident to come forward as they continue to gather details about the fire's origin and any potential contributing factors. The situation remains under close scrutiny as investigators work to ensure the safety of the area and the well-being of the residents.
