In a heartfelt announcement on social media, Thomas Müller has confirmed his exit from FC Bayern Munich at the end of the season. The veteran forward addressed his supporters on Instagram, aiming to clarify recent speculations regarding his future with the club.

Müller, who has been a crucial part of Bayern's squad since his early teens, expressed his ongoing passion for the game, stating that he still enjoys training and competing alongside his teammates. Despite being sidelined in recent matches, he revealed that he would have welcomed the opportunity to continue in his current role for another year. However, the club has decided not to extend his contract, which is set to expire this summer.

His post subtly critiqued the club's management for the public discussions surrounding his future, which he found unsettling. Nevertheless, Müller acknowledged that the club's leadership has shown appreciation for his long-standing commitment and contributions.

In a follow-up statement, FC Bayern Munich confirmed Müller's departure, stating that he will still represent the team at the upcoming Club World Cup scheduled for mid-June to mid-July in the United States. The club plans to honor his remarkable career with a special farewell match.

Max Eberl, the sports director, commented on the decision, emphasizing that it was not made lightly, but was necessary due to the club's strategic focus on future planning. Jan-Christian Dreesen, the CEO, highlighted the importance of reaching a mutual agreement that respects Müller's legacy.

At 35 years old, Müller has become one of the most recognizable figures in German football, holding the record for the most appearances for Bayern with 743 matches. He has enjoyed a prolific career, achieving numerous accolades, including twelve Bundesliga titles, six DFB-Pokal victories, and two UEFA Champions League trophies since making his professional debut in August 2008.
